Saint Michael Slaying the DragonThis 16th century Italian polychromed wooden sculpture had structural and superficial condition problems. It was in pieces, had loose elements, and the incomplete paint and gilding that remained were fragile and not well adhered to the surface.
The sculpture was repaired structurally and the remaining paint and gilding were consolidated. The sculpture was cleaned and the old repairs were inpainted with reversible media to unify the sculpture visually. |
